Work begins for 243 apartments + retail in Westlake

After more than two years of quiet, developer Cityview has broken ground on its latest mixed-use apartment complex in the Westlake neighborhood.

The project, named for its address at 1800 Beverly Boulevard, will consist of a five-story building featuring 243 apartments and 3,500 square feet of ground-floor retail.  Plans call for 21 apartments for very low-income households - making the project eligible for density bonus incentives - as well as parking for 292 vehicles.

The podium-type apartment complex, is being designed by AC Martin (building off of entitlement work from Humphreys & Partners), will consist of wood-frame construction above a concrete base.  Architectural plans show a contemporary low-rise structure, spanning from Burlington Avenue to Bonnie Brae Street, with street-facing amenities, two internal courtyards, and a roof deck.

An environmental study conducted for the project anticipated a roughly two-year construction timeline for 1800 Beverly.

Cityview, which is based in Los Angeles, is also in the midst of construction at two similar mixed-use apartment buildings in Historic South-Central and Carthay.  The company's past work includes apartments in Culver City, Koreatown, and Warner Center.
