A series of small commercial buildings on Sunset Boulevard could give way for a mid-rise hotel.

Yesterday, plans were filed with the City of Los Angeles to construct an 11-story building at the corner of Sunset and Poinsettia Place that would feature 93 guest rooms above ground-floor retail space.  The project would also include meeting roofs, a rooftop pool deck and a four-level subterranean parking structure.

Additional details about the proposed development are currently unclear.

Though most of Hollywood's recent mixed-use projects have emerged east of La Brea avenue, there is some evidence of a westward migration.

Podium-type developments are planned at Sunset Boulevard's intersections with Detroit and Gardener Streets.  Taller projects are proposed at 8150 Sunset and at Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea.
