The new Arts District home of the A + D Museum may soon be wrapped into a mixed-use complex, per a filing with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

According to plans filed earlier today with the City of Los Angeles, a property at the southwest corner of 4th and Hewitt Streets is slated for an 11-story, 190-foot tall building that would feature 255,000 square feet of offices above nearly 15,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.  The project site also include the 7,800-square-foot museum building, which would be retained within the proposed development.

The latter detail will likely come as a relief to the peripatetic A + D Museum, which relocated to Downtown Los Angeles after being displaced from the Miracle Mile by the construction of the Purple Line subway.

The underlying property is owned by a Pasadena-based limited liability company, linked to Legendary Development, which is partnering on a large mixed-use complex near SCI-Arc.

A slew of similarly-scaled mid-rise developments have emerged in the Arts District over the past several months, including potential 13-story buildings on Mateo Street and near the new Arts District Park.

The development site at 4th and Hewitt sits directly across the street from the former Coca-Cola facility that Hudson Pacific Properties is now repurposing as creative offices.
