After nearly two years of construction, the wood frame of a new apartment complex is finally rising just north of Hollywood and Highland.

Developer Jeff Greene is building the six-story structure, which spans a nearly 1.7-acre site at 1840 N. Highland Avenue.  The completed project will feature 118 one, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, in addition to amenities such as a swimming pool, a fitness center, a screening room, a gym, and parking for 216 vehicles on three basement levels.

Arquitectonica is designing the apartments, which is portrayed as a contemporary mid-rise structure with a metal exoskeleton.

A completion date for the project has not been revealed.

A similar 82-unit development recently opened two blocks south of the property, and a 224-unit project from Jamison Services is also under construction across the street.
