Eight months after we last checked in, wood framing is now complete at 6500 Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood, where construction is underway for a mixed-use development at the former site of Debbie Reynolds' dance studio.
The project from Elevado Group, an Encino-based development firm, sits on a corner lot at Lankershim Boulevard's intersection with Hamlin Street. The new five-story building will feature 119 apartments atop roughly 3,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space at completion. Plans also call for 185 parking spaces located in a semi-subterranean garage.
Elevado Group entitled the site using Transit Oriented Communities affordable housing incentives to permit greater height than allowed by zoning rules, as well as a reduction to required side yard setbacks. In exchange, 10 of the apartments will be set aside for extremely low-income households.
Corbel Architects is designing the project, according to city records. Renderings of the finished product depict a contemporary podium-type building.
Elevado Group, which is based out of Encino, is developing a number of new apartment buildings across the San Fernando Valley.
