The owner of a 28,000-square-foot site in Pico Union is looking to redevelop the property as a hotel serving the L.A. Convention Center, per a motion introduced by 1st District Councilmember Gil Cedillo.
The property, located at 2268 W. Pico Boulevard, is currently improved with a retail building and an adjoining surface parking lot. The owner has been presented with an opportunity to construct a "well-known and reputable" 125-key hotel on the site, which would feature ground-floor restaurant and meeting space.
Cedillo has moved to initiate a General Plan Amendment, a zone change and a height district change that would allow for the development to move forward.
The motion has been referred to the City Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee.
