With its 2021 debut on the horizon, co-developers AECOM Capital and Combined Properties are putting the finishing touches on West Hollywood's $500-million Pendry Hotel & Residences.

The hotel - located at the southeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Olive Drive - is comprised of a nine-story structure featuring 149 guest rooms, restaurant space, and amenities.  Additionally, the project - built on the site of a shuttered House of Blues nightclub - will include a new private music venue, billed by its developers as the first built in West Hollywood in more than two decades.

Large LED screens are embedded into the facade of the building, including a seven-story billboard facing Olive Drive and smaller screens which facing Sunset Boulevard and the eastern property line.

South of the hotel, construction remains in progress for a smaller mid-rise structure which will contain 40 condominiums, with sales prices starting at $3 million.  Units will range from 2,300 to 6,000 square feet in size, with some opening onto private roof terraces with swimming pools, spas, and outdoor kitchens.  The condominiums will also have common amenities such as a rooftop deck and a fitness center.

One of the condos - a two-story penthouse - will have direct access via a private elevator to a five-car garage.  As part of a partnership with McLaren Automotive North America, the buyer of the unit - which has an asking price of $16-million - will receive an allocation for a one-year lease of McLaren's 765LT.

The Pendry complex is being designed by a team which includes EYRC Architects and Cuningham Group.  Martin Brudnizki Design Studio is the project's interior designer, while Lifescape is its landscape architect.


The project is the latest in series of new hotel and condominium developments along the Sunset Strip, following the $300-million Sunset La Cienega complex, and the Edition Hotel & Residences.

Other hotel-residential developments are planned at 9034 Sunset Boulevard and at the site currently occupied by the Viper Room night club.
