Los Angeles-based real estate developer Sandstone Properties has announced plans to replace a strip mall in Culver City with a hotel.

The proposed development, slated for a property at 11469 Jefferson Boulevard, calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring 175 guest rooms, in addition to amenities, restaurant space, and a one-level subterranean parking garage with 208 automated space.

Nakada Partners is designing the hotel, which would stand 56 feet in height.  The building is described as having a unique oculus feature, with a glass exterior and terraced levels wrapped by green walls.

The proposed hotel was first presented at a community meeting on April 16.  A timeline for the project has not been announced.

Sandstone is also the developer behind The Albany, a 37-story hotel tower planned near the Los Angeles Convention Center.
