A large office building in Rosemead is set to give way to a new housing development, according to an environmental study recently published by the City.

The project at 1515 Walnut Grove Avenue, which will require approval of a general plan amendment and a zone change, calls for clearing the existing 268,000-square-foot building to make way the construction of 191 new homes in a combination of tandem and row townhomes. Plans also call for parking, on-site open space, and amenities.

Woodley Architectural Group is designing the roughly more than nine-acre development, which would include three story-structures containing a mix of two, three-, and four-bedroom homes. Plans depict Mediterranean-style buildings arranged around private roads, walkways, and open spaces.

Construction is expected to occur over a period of 34 months following groundbreaking.
