Six months after we last checked in, wood framing is now complete for a new senior supportive housing complex located directly north of the Reseda Theatre.

The project, named Canby Woods West, occupies a property located at 7219-7227 N. Canby Avenue. The joint venture from Azure Development and Thomas Safran & Associates consists of a four-story building which will feature 26 one- and two-bedroom apartments reserved for low- and very low-income seniors upon completion.
William Hezmalhalch Architects is designing the project, which will have a Spanish Colonial Revival exterior. Plans also call for ancillary features and amenities including a fitness center, a courtyard, and parking for six vehicles.
According to a landing page on the Azure Development website, residents for Canby Woods West will be selected through Los Angeles County's coordinated entry system. Residents will have access to on-site supportive services, including case management, financial education, and transportation assistance.

The project, which would sit across the street from the Canby Woods senior apartments that were also built by Thomas Safran & Associates, is funded through a combination of state and local sources.
Construction of Canby Woods West will also be coordinated with the reactivation of the historic Reseda Theatre, a local landmark on Sherman Way.
