One mile west of Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, a large site consisting of commercial building and parking is poised for redevelopment with condominiums and retail.
The Huntington Village Specific Plan, now starting its environmental review period, would apply to a roughly 11.5-acre site located at 1101 W. Huntington Drive and 618 Michillinda Avenue. Project applicant New World International Investment, LLC, a Diamond Bar-based entity, is seeking approvals for the new construction of a mixed-use complex consisting of 263 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes, 5,800 square feet of commercial uses, and parking for 825 vehicles. An existing H Mart supermarket on Huntington Drive would be left in place.
The new housing, per a notice of preparation, would include 26 residential units reserved as affordable housing at an unspecified income level.
Humphreys & Partners is designing Huntington Village, which would include buildings ranging from two to four stories in height, as well as courtyards, pocket parks, and amenities such as a pool, a dog park, coworking space, a club house, and fitness center. Parking for the complex would be located in five above-grade levels and two subterranean levels.
Construction of the project will require a slew of discretionary actions by the City of Arcadia, including the adoption of the proposed specific plan and associated environmental impact report, as well as a general plan amendment and a zone change.
The project is one of a handful of new developments in the works on the outskirts of Santa Anita Park, including the planned redevelopment of the Derby Restaurant with housing and a new Hilton hotel which broke ground last year.
