Fairfield Residential continues to move forward with plans for a large apartment complex near the Los Angeles River in Glassell Park.

Earlier this week, the Los Angeles City Council approved plans from the San Diego-based company to redevelop a warehouse at 2900 San Fernando Road with a five-story apartment complex.  The proposed development would include 370 one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings, including 31 units of very low-income housing, in addition to parking for nearly 600 vehicles.

AO designed the low-rise complex, which will include open space amenities such as courtyards, a fitness center, and a rooftop deck.

Construction is expected to occur over 20 months, contingent on the issuance of building permits.  A timeline for the project has not been announced.

Other recent projects from Fairfield Residential include the Ox on Vela apartments in Warner Center and The Aliso development in the Arts District.  Fairfield is also planning a second apartment complex in the Canoga Park area.

Just west of the 2900 San Fernando Road site, another industrial property flanking the Los Angeles River is also slated to make way for multifamily housing.
