A portion of a Catholic church property in Redondo Beach is set to give way to new housing from Orange County developer City Ventures.
The project, approved in February by the Redondo Beach Planning Commission, would replace support facilities for the St. James church at 122-126 Pacific Coast Highway. In their place, plans call for the construction of eight buildings containing 43 three-bedroom homes.
City Ventures took advantage of density bonus incentives to permit the scale of the proposed project. In exchange, three of the homes are to be reserved for very low-income households.
KTGY is designing the project, which would include a series of contemporary three-story structures.
City Ventures is also developing a similar townhome complex in Torrance, among numerous upcoming developments across Southern California.
