On March 30, the City of Los Angeles will hold an official ceremony to mark the completion of Albion Riverside Park - a new riverside greenspace in Lincoln Heights.
Located at the corner of Albion Street and Avenue 17, the six-acre parking features:
- athletic fields;
- fitness equipment;
- walking paths;
- playgrounds;
- a picnic area; and
- a river observation area with a bioswale.
The $44-million project, which broke ground in May 2017, is considered an expansion of the nearby Downey Recreation Center. The two facilities will be connected by a walkway underneath the Spring Street Bridge.
Albion Riverside Park sits across the river from the Los Angeles State Historic Park, a 32-acre green space which reopened in 2017 following a multi-year restoration.
