The City of Irvine has opened another 48 acres of amenities at the Orange County Great Park's Sports Complex.
The expansion of the park, which opened on June 15, includes six synthetic soccer and lacrosse fields, a natural turf flex field, four basketball courts, a restaurant, and parking lots. The new offerings fold into the first 53 acres of the park that opened in August 2017.
By the end of this year, the park will have added 130 acres of playfields and trails - including a one-mile long path that will run from Irvine Boulevard to the Championship Soccer Stadium, a baseball stadium, a softball stadium, and a Children's play area.
A full buildout of the Orange County Great Park will create a 1,300-acre expanse.
