Nearly one year after we last checked in, a Measure HHH-funded permanent supportive housing project from Affirmed Housing is fully-framed in Broadway-Manchester, and exterior finishes are now taking shape.
The Asante Apartments, located 11001 S. Broadway, consists of a five-story building which will feature 55 studio- and one-bedroom apartments, as well as a two-bedroom manager's unit Plans also call for a seven-car parking lot at the rear of the property.
The apartments are to be restricted to households earning no more than 50 percent of the Los Angeles area median income, per a 2020 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee. Rents for the roughly $27-million project will range from $545 to $727 per month.
AC Martin is designing Asante, which is clad in a mix of fiber cement panels, wood siding, and stucco. According to a staff report issued by the Housing and Community Investment Department, plans call for open space amenities including an elevated terrace, a community room, and a computer room.
The project is one of at least a half-dozen affordable and supportive housing developments in Los Angeles County from San Diego-based Affirmed Housing, following projects in Westlake, East Hollywood, Westmont, and Sawtelle. The company has already built one project in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood - the 56-unit Dahlia development at 120th and Main Streets.
