Just outside of Downtown Burbank, concrete and rebar pillars are rising on an eight-acre site at 777 N. Front Street, according to a new social media post from LaTerra Development, which is in the midst of construction on its largest apartment complex yet.
The $375-million project, a joint venture with QuadReal Property Group, is rising from a site which is bounded by the I-5 Freeway to the east, Burbank Boulevard to the north, Magnolia Boulevard to the south, and a Metrolink right-of-way to the west. The under-construction development, called LaTerra Select Burbank, will feature a total of 573 apartments - including 69 units deed-restricted affordable housing.
Urban Architecture Lab and TCA Architects lead the design team for complex, which will include four buildings which vary between seven and eight stories in height. Common amenity decks are planned in each building, while additional open space is proposed for the roof of a parking garage shared by the property.
Entitlements for LaTerra Select Burbank also permit the construction of a 307-key hotel, approximately 1,100 square feet of ground-floor retail, and parking for more than 1,500 vehicles.
At the southern corner of the project site, approved plans call for the construction of a 30,000-square-foot landscaped transit plaza adjacent to Magnolia Boulevard, providing a connection to both Downtown Burbank and the neighboring Metrolink station.
LaTerra, which is headquartered in Century City, has also secured approvals for even larger project featuring 862 apartments and roughly 150,000 square feet of offices at the former site of a Fry's Electronics store elsewhere in Burbank.
LaTerra's other under-construction developments include projects in Los Feliz, Downtown, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Mar Vista.
