Another hulking Koreatown office building is about to be converted into apartments, per a permit recently issued by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety.
The project at 3550 Wilshire Boulevard, which is being developed by Jamison Services, involves the conversion of a 20-story towers into 495 apartments. Plans also call for the renovation of existing ground-floor amenities, as well as the addition of a rooftop amenity deck and penthouse mezzanines. Existing ground-floor tenants are to remain.
Rockefeller Partners Architects is designing the project, which will also involve a seismic retrofit of the late 1960s building. Renderings show the building would add a rooftop pool and barbecue area.
A project page from the Jamison Services website indicates that the building will be called "Walker."
Jamison Services has converted a number of similar properties along the Wilshire corridor from offices to housing in the past decade, and recently started work on a similar project at 3325 Wilshire Boulevard. The company's future projects also include a ground-up high-rise complex slated for a nearby site at 3600 Wilshire Boulevard.
