A parking lot located just off of Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys is to be redeveloped with affordable housing, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

Slated for a site at 6243 N. Halbrent Avenue, the proposed development calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring 42 residential units. The project would consist exclusively of one-bedroom units.

As a a fully affordable housing development, the project would pursue development bonuses through the affordable housing incentive program implemented as part of the citywide housing incentives earlier this year.

GA Engineering is designing the contemporary podium-type building, according to plans included with the application.

City records list the applicant as Halbrent Holdings, LLC, an entity managed by Alan Turobiner. Turobiner is working with GA Engineering on at least two similar affordable housing developments in the San Fernando Valley.
