A year after breaking ground in unincorporated West Compton, the wood frame of a $41-million affordable and supportive housing development is now complete.
The project, which is being built by Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, is located on a roughly 2.7-acre property at 14773-14803 S. Stanford Avenue. The three-story development will feature 85 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, flanked by a surface parking lot.
Plans call for a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings, priced for formerly homeless persons and households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. Rents at the property are to be set between $545 and $1,512 per month, according to a staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.
Shelter Architects designed the Stanford Avenue Apartments, which will consist of two separate buildings sharing courtyards and amenities. A community garden will be located at the northeast corner of the property.
Hollywood Community Housing is currently developing projects in Walnut Park, Harvard Heights, North Hills, and Historic South-Central.
