In Westlake, excavation is in progress for yet another affordable housing complex from West Hollywood Community Housing Corp.

The non-profit developer's Third Thyme apartments, now taking shape at 1435 W. 3rd Street, will consist of an eight-story building featuring 104 one-bedroom senior apartments. That total will include 47 units for formerly homeless residents and two units for on-site managers, according to a landing page on the West Hollywood Community Housing website. The remaining apartments would be set aside for renters earning  between 50 and 60 percent of the area median income level.

Architecture firm 64North is designing the new podium-type building, which is depicted in a rendering with a mostly stucco exterior accented with wood slats. Besides housing, plans call for amenities including a community room, a fitness center, a laundry facility, an open-air courtyard, and a rear yard.

Completion of Third Thyme is expected in Summer 2025.

The project is one of two being built by West Hollywood Community Housing on adjoining sites in Westlake. Construction is further along for the Miramar Gold complex at 1438 Miramar Street to the north, which will feature 94 apartments in a seven-story structure when completed in 2024.
