Just south of the SR-134 Freeway, Linc Housing Corp. is nearing the finish line on what will be the largest affordable housing complex in the history of the City of Glendale.
The Pioneer Village project, a joint venture with National CORE, is now taking shape on a former AT&T site at 515 Pioneer Drive which Glendale acquired in 2019. Per a social media post from Linc, the project recently achieved a certificate of occupancy, meaning the building is one step closer to beginning move ins. The property includes 340 studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings for households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income level.
KFA Architecture designed the podium-type development, which is composed of three five-story buildings with courtyards, community gardens, rooftop decks, and children's play areas.

When the project was presented in 2021 to the Glendale Design Committee, plans called for the conversion of an existing cul-de-sac on Kenilworth Avenue into a pedestrian paseo. That would connect to an existing tunnel beneath the SR-134 freeway leading to Fremont Park, where the developers would build a new plaza.
The project site is one of two large properties acquired by the City of Glendale in 2019 to preserve them for affordable housing development. The other, located at 900-920 Broadway, was developed with 92 income-restricted apartments.
