Plans posted by the United Neighborhoods Neighborhood Council reveal a proposal for a new affordable housing complex just east of the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Western Avenue in Harvard Heights.
The project site, located at 2225-2229 W. Venice Boulevard, is currently improved with a vacant building and a parking lot. The property was previously home to a used car sales and leasing business, which shuttered not long after the onset of the global pandemic.
City records indicate that the land most recently sold in April 2022 for just over $2 million. Los Angeles County Assessor's records list the buyer of the property as an entity affiliated with Haroni Investments, which frequently develops housing in South Los Angeles.
The project slated for the approximately 14,250-square-foot site, which consists of two parcels, would see the construction of a new five-story building featuring 43 apartments - all of which would be set aside for rent as affordable housing save for a required manager's unit.
John Kaliski Architects is designing 2225 Venice, which is portrayed in renderings as a contemporary low-rise structure.
