A city-owned property in Pico-Union could see the construction of affordable housing, according to plans filed yesterday with the City of Los Angeles.
The currently vacant lot, located at 1047 S. Mariposa Avenue, is slated for the construction of a 41-unit apartments building, in which 34 apartments would be reserved for low-income households and the remaining six would be set aside for very low-income households.
Non-profit developer West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation is seeking entitlements for 1047 Mariposa with incentives through the Transit Oriented Communities guidelines, including a reduction to a required rear-yard setback and a reduction in mandatory open space.
Additional details regarding the project are not stated in its case filing with the Department of City Planning.
The project would rise across the street from a five-story, 32-unit apartment complex designed by LOHA.
