A vacant lot near Wilmington's historic Banning Residence is slated to be developed as affordable housing.
Yesterday, Long Beach-based LINC Housing Corp. submitted an application to the City of Los Angeles to construct a three-story, 51,000-square-foot building at 1424 N. Deepwater Avenue that would feature 56 apartments - including 55 deed-restricted units - and on-site supportive service.
The narrow, rectangular project site spans 1.28 acres across Eubank Avenue from the Wilmington Cemetary.
Entitlements requested the proposed apartment building include a general plan amendment, a zone change, and mandatory site plan review.
LINC is currently in predevelopment for several other affordable developments in the Los Angeles area, including two projects in Willowbrook and one adjacent to the new Crenshaw/LAX Line.
