Six homes just north of the Los Angeles River in Sherman Oaks are set to give way to affordable housing, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed project from HVN Development, which would rise from a corner site at 5003 N. Kester Avenue, calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring 77 one- and two-bedroom apartments. No on-site parking is proposed.

As with other HVN projects, the apartments are to be reserved for rent by low- and moderate-income households. The project is seeking development bonuses through the Citywide Housing Incentive Program.

Stockton Architects, which works on all of HVN Development's projects, is designing the slim podium-type apartment building. Plans show a building with a facade of painted stucco and stone veneer.

HVN Development is developing numerous affordable housing developments of a similar scale across the City of Los Angeles, including a separate Sherman Oaks apartment complex.
