A commercial building in South Los Angeles is set to give way to affordable housing, per an application filed recently with the Department of City Planning.

Home At Last CDC, the applicant behind the project at 7811 S. Western Avenue, is seeking approvals for the construction of a slim four-story building featuring 19 apartments without on-site parking.

All of the housing would be restricted to below market rate rents.

Franklin Studios Architecture Corp. is designing the project, which is shown in renderings as a contemporary low-rise building with a rooftop deck.

A similar affordable housing complex is already taking shape nearby on a church owned parking lot near 79th Street and Western Avenue.
