Earlier today, local elected officials joined nonprofit developer Meta Housing Corporation in Harbor Gateway to officially break ground on two affordable housing complexes catering to special needs tenants.
The project, slated for a currently vacant property near the crossing of El Segundo Boulevard and Harbor Freeway, will produce a total of 160 residential units set aside for low-income families and formerly homeless individuals.
The northern building, which will front 127th Street, consists of a four-story building containing 84 apartments. The residential units will consist predominantly of studio and one-bedroom dwellings, with rents between $363 and $545 per month.
Project costs are estimated at slightly under $25 million.
Immediately south, the second component of the development would consist of another four-story structure fronting El Segundo Boulevard. This low-rise structure would contain a mixture of 75 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom dwellings, with rents between $290 and $1079 per month.
An estimated budget for the project falls just shy of $27 million.
Both of the buildings are being designed by Y&M Architects.
Meta, along with partner organization Western Community Housing, has a robust pipeline of affordable housing developments throughout Southern California.
