At the former site of a food processing plant in Central-Alameda, a new affordable housing complex from Thomas Safran & Associates continues to take shape.

The Parkview Place development, located at 1351 E. 41st Street and 4020 S. Compton Avenue, consists of a series of three-story buildings that will feature 127 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments and parking for 130 vehicles. All of the new housing is to be reserved for qualifying renters at the low- and extremely low-income levels.

BSB Design is designing the contemporary low-rise development, which will include two central lawns to provide open space for residents.

An environmental report circulated by the City of Los Angeles in 2019 estimated that the Parkview project would be built over an approximately 26-month period. A project website states that completion is expected in Summer 2024.

Funding for the development includes a $40.2-million allocation from the State of California through the California Housing Accelerator program. The state has also contributed $2 million toward infrastructure investments such as bike lanes, curbs and gutters, new water and sewer lines, and broadband equipment near the project site.
