Construction has commenced for a new affordable housing complex on the border between Mid-Wilshire and Koreatown.

Located at 1035 S. Crenshaw Boulevard, calls for the construction new seven-story building that will features 70 apartments for low- and moderate-income renters, according to permits issued by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety.

The project utilized affordable housing incentives through the Citywide Housing Incentive Program, according to a permit filing. The development is considered a Low Income Housing Tax Credit Large Family Project, meaning that it will have larger apartments than often seen in affordable housing developments.

DFH Architects is designing the project, according to a social media post by the firm.

The owner of the property is an entity affiliated with Jamison Services, which had previously proposed a similar 97-unit development on the property, though the bulk of that project's apartments would have been priced at market rate. An application for tax credit financing indicates that the project is associated with Arden Residential, Jamison's new affordable housing affiliate.

Plans for that project, as well as a second market-rate development on a neighboring property to the south, have been abandoned in favor of affordable housing.
