A single-family home and church just north of Washington Boulevard in Mid-City is poised to become the site of the next affordable housing complex from HVN Development, according to a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposed development, which would rise at 1945 S. Carmona Avenue, calls for the construction of a new five-story building featuring 73 one-bedroom apartments without parking.
According to findings included with the filing, the apartments would predominantly cater to low- and moderate-income renters, save for a mandatory manager's unit. As a 100 percent affordable housing development, the project would be eligible for density bonus incentives permitting a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.

Stockton Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type development, which would be clad in stucco, stone veneer, and siding.
HVN is developing thousands of apartments in similar projects across the City of Los Angeles.
