On October 27, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission will hear an appeal of a proposed apartment complex in Palms.

The project, slated for a property at 3647 Hughes Avenue, would replace a single-family home with a five-story building featuring seven market rate apartments and one unit of very low income housing..

Renderings from Vanos Architects portray a contemporary low-rise structure.

The proposed development was appealed by the owners of an adjacent property, who have argued it would adversely impact street parking and combine with another new apartment complex to "[degrade] sunlight and air."  Planning staff recommended that the Commission deny the appeal.
