A duplex located north of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood is poised to make way for new multifamily housing.

The project, which is being presented to the West Hollywood Planning Commission's Design Review Subcommittee, would rise from a corner lot located at 8760 Shoreham Drive. Plans call for the construction of a new six-story edifice featuring 22 one- and two-bedroom apartments above a 23-car garage.

Applicant Shoreham Capital, LP would be required to set aside three of the proposed apartments for rent as affordable housing in exchange for density bonus incentives permitting a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.

DFH Architects is designing the project, which is portrayed in plans with an exterior of brick and wood-toned cladding.

"Overall, the proposed project demonstrates a cohesive architectural approach that responds to the site’s corner condition through articulated massing, varied facade planes, and a contemporary material palette," reads a staff report to the subcommittee. "Together, these design elements contribute to a building that thoughtfully engages with its urban context."
