Plans to redevelop an auto repair shop and two commercial buildings in Beverly Grove have taken another step forward, with the City of Los Angeles moving toward adopting a proposed mitigated negative declaration for the project.

The proposed five-story building, slated for a property at 8000 W. 3rd Street, would contain 50 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments atop 7,250 square feet of ground-floor retail space and two levels of basement parking.  Plans call for seven units to be set aside as affordable housing, an agreement negotiated last year with the Mid City West Community Council.

MVE + Partners is designing the podium-type development with amenities such as a fitness center, a central courtyard, and a roof deck.  Renderings depict a contemporary low-rise structure.

Construction of 8000 W. 3rd Street is anticipated to occur over approximately 22 months.  Completion is anticipated in 2021.

A similar development is two blocks north at 8000 Beverly Boulevard.
