Closing in on one year after our last update, wood framing is taking shape above the concrete podium of LaTerra Select Burbank, a new mixed-use apartment complex located just outside of Downtown Burbank.

The project from LaTerra Development, located on an eight-acre site at 777 N. Front Street, is being built through a joint venture with QuadReal Property Group. The new eight-story complex - I-5 Freeway to the east, Burbank Boulevard to the north, Magnolia Boulevard to the south, and a Metrolink right-of-way to the west - will feature 573 apartments, including 69 units of deed-restricted affordable housing.

Urban Architecture Lab and TCA Architects headline the project's design team, which includes four interconnected buildings varying between seven and eight stories in height. Each will feature amenity decks, supplemented by additional open space above a shared  parking garage.

Entitlements for LaTerra Select Burbank also permit the construction of a 307-key hotel, approximately 1,100 square feet of ground-floor retail, and parking for more than 1,500 vehicles. Likewise, the project includes a 30,000-square-foot landscaped transit plaza adjacent to Magnolia Boulevard, which would offer a connection to both Downtown Burbank and the neighboring Metrolink station.

LaTerra, which is headquartered in Century City, has also secured approvals for even larger project featuring 862 apartments and roughly 150,000 square feet of offices at the former site of a Fry's Electronics store elsewhere in Burbank.
