After six months of construction, wood framing is starting to take shape at the site of Heritage Square South, a $28-million permanent supportive housing complex from Bridge Housing Corp. in Pasadena.

The project, located on a corner lot at 710 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, will feature a total of 69 one- and two-bedroom dwellings reserved for formerly unhoused seniors, as well as a single manager's apartment. Other components of the project include 2,200 square feet of commercial space fronting the intersection of Fair Oaks and Orange Grove Avenue.

Designed by KTGY is designing, the apartment complex will consist of a trio of three-story buildings linked by pedestrian bridges. The buildings are arranged in a U shape, leaving space for a central courtyard between. Plans also call for a community room and other amenity spaces.

Completion of Heritage Square South is expected in September 2023, general contractor R.D. Olson Construction announced at the time of the project's groundbreaking.

Heritage Square South is named for the adjoining Heritage Square apartments, which were also built by Bridge Housing. Other projects from Bridge include the Jordan Downs redevelopment in Watts and a new affordable housing complex now rising in Long Beach.
