Non-profit developer A Community of Friends has completed construction of Casa Del Sol, a new senior affordable housing complex in the Sun Valley community.

The four-story edifice, located at 10966 W. Ratner Street, is highlighted by 43 studio and one-bedroom apartments catering to formerly homeless seniors, as well as a two-bedroom manager's unit.  Other components of the project include a 3,500-square-foot community room and at-grade parking for 15 vehicles.

A leasing brochure circulated by the Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center does not list rental rates for the property.

FSY Architects designed the project, which is split into two wings flanking a linear central courtyard.

The more than $21-million development was funded in part via Proposition HHH, the $1.2 billion bond measure passed by Los Angeles voters in 2016.  It is among the first HHH-funded developments to break ground and open.

A Community of Friends is also behind new supportive housing projects in Hyde Park and Florence-Firestone.
