A pair of early 20th-century apartment buildings has bit the dust in Westlake, allowing a modern mixed-use development to rise in their place.
The property, located just outside the Downtown freeway ring at 1312-1320 W. 8th Street, is slated for a six-story building featuring 36 apartments - including three for very low-income households - above 2,800 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Plans also call for 50 parking spaces, as well as an amenity deck at the roof level.
A conceptual rendering posted to LoopNet shows a nondescript mid-rise structure wrapped in stone, stucco, and glass.
Just north along Hartford Avenue, a similar multifamily residential development is now wrapping up construction.
