At a nearly six-acre property in Hollywood, the wood-and-concrete frame of a large mixed-use complex from AvalonBay Communities is now taking shape.

AVA Hollywood, located at 6677 Santa Monica Boulevard, consists of multiple seven-story buildings, which will offer 695 apartments above 25,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and basement parking.

The project, designed by Koning Eizenberg Architecture, is portrayed as a contemporary podium-type complex with numerous courtyards and amenity decks.  A landscaped paseo will also cut north-to-south through the project, connecting Santa Monica Boulevard to Lexington Avenue.

The project's design team also includes Togawa Smith Martin, Groundlevel Landscape Architecture, and House of Honey Interiors.

A handful of similar developments are also planned or underway along the surrounding stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard, including the LA LGBT Center's Anita May Rosenstein Campus and a proposed mixed-use complex from Onni Group.

AvalonBay has built a number of large residential-retail developments in Los Angeles over the past several years, the latest of which would replace a cold storage facility in the Arts District.
