Just east of Metro's Culver City Station, vertical construction is complete for the first of two office buildings at Apple's new L.A. office campus.
Located on the Los Angeles - Culver City border at 8888 Venice Boulevard, the project will create a total of 536,000 square feet of offices and production space with subterranean parking for 1,200 vehicles. Construction has reached its full height on the Culver City side of the property, fronting National Boulevard, where concrete and rebar continue to rise for the larger Los Angeles building to the east.
Gensler is designing the contemporary four- and five-story buildings, which will be lined with terrace decks on upper floors. No street-level commercial uses are planned, although building entrances and shuttle drop-off points are intended to activate the ground floor.
The project site also includes a sliver of land with frontage on Washington Boulevard to the south, where a small park-like alcove will be located next to an office building already occupied by Apple at 8777 Washington Boulevard. In total, 58,000 square feet of open space is planned for the campus, including a central courtyard, the Washington Boulevard alcove, and landscaped promenades along Venice and National.
Apple, which announced plans earlier this year to invest $500 billion in the United States in the next four years, has recently ramped up its presence in Los Angeles. Between Apple TV, Apple Music, and other ventures, Apple has announced that it expects to grow its L.A. office to more than 3,000 employees by the year 2026.
The Apple campus is the latest tech and entertainment giant to set up shop near Culver City Station. Across the street, Warner Bros. Discovery leases 240,000 square feet of office space at the $350-million Ivy Station complex, and Amazon has occupies some 600,000 square feet of space between the Culver Studios complex and the neighboring Culver Steps development.
