LVMH, the French conglomerate which owns Louis Vuitton, has announced plans to develop a luxury hotel on Rodeo Drive.
The Cheval Blanc Beverly Hills, slated for the southeast corner of Rodeo and Little Santa Monica Boulevard, would replace two building that previously housed a Brooks Brothers retail store and the Paley Center for Media. Plans call for the construction of a roughly eight-story edifice containing 115 guest rooms, a private club, ground-floor restaurant space, and multiple pool and amenity decks.
Architect Peter Marino is designing the proposed hotel, with Los Angeles-based Gruen Associates serving as architect of record. Renderings depict a contemporary mid-rise structure with upper levels stepped back the street. Plans call for art pieces to be integrated into the building, including a new plaza and sculpture at the corner of Rodeo and Little Santa Monica.
The project is being designed to obtain a minimum of LEED Silver certification, and is slated to include electrical vehicle charging stations and space for rooftop solar panels.
Completion is currently anticipated in 2025, pending approvals from the City of Beverly Hills.
LVMH, which is headquartered in Paris, acquired the former Brooks Brothers site in late 2018 for the reported sum of $245 million. The Cheval Blanc hotel brand is among several of the company's holdings, which also include luxury beverage, clothing, and cosmetic lines.
Other hotels planned in Beverly Hills include an adaptive reuse project which would transform the landmarked Gibraltar Square office complex and a ground-up development on South Lasky Drive.
