Just east of the 110 Freeway in Chinatown, vertical construction is now complete for the first of two multifamily residential developments from a pair of local investors.
The apartment complex, located on a previously vacant hillside site at 849 N. Bunker Hill Avenue, is a five-story edifice that will feature 37 apartments above two levels of basement parking.
Labyrinth Design Studio designed the contemporary podium-type building, which is depicted with a stucco-clad exterior rand an array of cantilevered and inset balconies.
The development site is owned by Sina and David Mehdyzadeh, according to Los Angeles County Assessor's records.
The same project team is also planning a similar development consisting of 33 apartments for an adjoining lot facing New Depot Street. Work on that apartment complex has yet to commence.
