An empty lot in park-starved Koreatown is slated to become green space, according to an item to be considered by the Board of Recreation and Parks Commissioners.
Per a staff report, the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust has worked since 2024 on the project, which involves a roughly 7,400-square-foot site located at 355 S. Kingsley Drive. The property, located at the northwest corner of Kingsley and 4th Street, is to be transferred from LANLT to the Recreation and Parks Department for development as green space.
Up to $2 million in park fees could be used to acquire the site, based on money collected from projects located within two miles of the site.
Construction of a park at the property would require additional funding and planning, which have yet to be approved at this point in time.
According to permit records, the project site was previously slated for the construction of a five-story, 19-unit multifamily residential building.
Other park projects in the works for Koreatown include a new pocket park taking shape adjacent to the Pio Pico Library.
