Just north of Santa Monica Boulevard in Sawtelle, vertical construction is complete for a new co-living apartment complex from Canadian developer Rize Alliance.
The project, the first in the Los Angeles market for the Vancouver-based firm, is located on a corner lot at 1503 S. Barrington Avenue. In the place of a single-family home and a triplex, Rize Alliance has built a new four-story structure featuring 18 apartments.
According to a landing page on the Rize Alliance website, 1503 Barrington will include a mix of four- and five-bedroom floor plans, as well as outdoor patios and an indoor clubhouse.
LOHA is designing the new project, which will feature open stairwells wrapping around an open-air central courtyard. A rendering shows a black exterior.
Per the website of general contractor Integrare Group, the project may cater to students.
The development site is located directly north of the intersection of Barrington and Santa Monica Boulevard, where developer Markwood is wrapping up work on a larger mixed-use project which will feature 51 apartments atop ground-floor commercial space.
A number of other mixed-use and multifamily residential developments are slated for the stretch of Santa Monica to the west of the 405 Freeway, including an eye-catching apartment complex slated to rise at the former site of a Vons supermarket at the southeast corner of Santa Monica and Barrington.
