Just east of the Los Angeles River in South Gate, non-profit developer PATH Ventures is putting the finishing touches on a $33.5-million permanent supportive housing complex.
The PATH Villas at South Gate, located at 5610 Imperial Highway, is a four-story building that will feature 60 studio and one-bedroom apartments reserved for veterans and formerly homeless persons with chronic health conditions.
According to a September 2019 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the apartments will be reserved for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. In 2019, rents were expected to range from $548 to $1,175 per month.
Torti Gallas + Partners designed the project, which closely resembles the structure depicted in renderings released in 2020. The contemporary low-rise building wraps around an open-air courtyard, and includes other open space amenities for residents.
PATH, one of Southern California's most prolific developers of permanent supportive housing, is also in the construction stage at similar buildings in West Adams and Hollywood.
