A tower crane has arrived near the confluence of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards, signaling the start of vertical construction for the $5-billion One Beverly Hills development from Cain International.
Located directly west of the Waldorf Astoria and Beverly Hilton hotels, the project will involve a renovation of the latter hotel, as well as the new construction of:
- a 10-story, 78-suite Aman hotel with a 100,000-square-foot private club;
- approximately 30,000 square feet of commercial space;
- subterranean parking for roughly 1,900 vehicles; and
- up to 200 luxury condominiums.
Suffolk has announced that it will lead the construction of the first of two Aman-branded residential towers, which will be the first West Coast outpost for the brand.
“This project represents a landmark opportunity to redefine California’s residential skyline,” said Suffolk Los Angeles senior vice president Cliff Goldsmith in a statement. “Our team is dedicated to unparalleled precision and cutting-edge innovation, setting a new standard for luxury construction that will resonate for years to come.”
Foster + Partners, Rios, and Kerry Hill Architects headline the design team for One Beverly Hills, which calls for the construction of 26- and 32-story towers that will be the tallest structures in Beverly Hills when complete.
Out of an overall 17.5-acre site, approximately eight acres will be given over to a botanical garden. More than half of the garden space will be made publicly accessible, with walking paths and water features for visitors.
The first Aman-branded tower is on track for completion in 2027. Cain International has previously indicated that the full project is slated to open by 2028.
