Construction is underway for a $300-million high-rise development in Koreatown. 

The latest project, a joint venture between Hankey Capital and Jamison Services, is now rising from an approximately three-acre site at 2900 Wilshire Boulevard - directly across the street from Lafayette Park.  Plans call for a 25-story building which will feature 644 apartments and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Designed by Large Architecture and Dianna Wong Architecture + Interior Design, the project will feature a podium structure spanning across the project site, containing 1,100 parking spaces lined with residential units along street frontages. Plans also call for a one-acre amenity deck atop the podium, including a dog park and a swimming pool, with additional open-air spaces slated for the seventh and roof levels.

The tower itself will have an amorphous footprint, rising 269 feet above the intersection of Wilshire and Hoover Street.  The building is shaped to avoid casting shadows on the parks which neighbor the property, as well as to provide views of Downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Hills.

Rents at 2900 Wilshire - which will offer studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, as well as two-story, three-bedroom penthouse units - will range from $2,000 per month to $10,000 per month.

The project, which is being built by AECOM and Wilshire Construction, is anticipated to open in 2021.

Hankey and Jamison Services have previously partnered on the two-tower Circa development near Staples Center.  The twin 35-story towers - featuring 648 apartments - made their debut last year.
