Construction has commenced for a new supporting housing complex in the unincorporated community of Altadena, non-profit developer EAH Housing announced last week.

Agave, which will rise from a property at 2052 Lake Avenue, calls for the construction of a new four-story building featuring 58 apartments serving formerly unhoused renters earning up to 30 percent of the area median income level. Plans also call for an 18-car garage. The project, in addition to housing, will include a central courtyard and other common spaces.

On-site supportive services for residents are to be provided through Union Station Homeless Services. Other members of the project team include FSY Architects and general contractor United Building Company, Inc.

Construction of the multifamily complex is being funded through a combination of tax credits, state, local, and private sources.

According to a project website, completion of Agave is expected in 2025.

EAH has recently developed several other projects in the Los Angeles area, including new buildings in Hollywood and Santa Monica.
