Near the intersection of 7th Street and Santa Fe Avenue in the Arts District, a construction crane has now arrived for the AMP Lofts development

Greystar Real Estate Partners is building the seven-story complex, which will contain 320 live/work apartments atop 20,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial uses and 420 parking spaces in a subterranean garage.  Other project elements include a fitness center, a clubhouse, and a courtyard.

Shimoda Design Group is designing the project, with direction from Steinberg Hart.  The contemporary mid-rise structure will offer a nod to the property's prior occupant - Amp automotive - by incorporating brickwork from buildings that once stood on the project site.

Greystar, based out of South Carolina, is also behind plans for a similar seven-story development near the intersection of 4th and Alameda Streets.

The AMP Lofts site is located just north of Shorenstein Company's Ford Factory development - soon to be the new West Coast headquarters of Warner Music Group - and a small building that is set to be incorporated into a new hotel.
