Six months after beginning construction at Wilshire Boulevard and 7th Street, a tower crane has now risen for the Santa Monica Proper hotel.
The boutique hotel, which is being developed by the Kor Group in partnership with landowner Alex Gorby and Goldman Sachs, includes the restoration of a 1928 Spanish Colonial Revival landmark and a ground-up building on an adjacent site. At completion, the mixed-use devleopment will include 271 guest rooms, in addition to 7,000 square feet of retail space, event space, a rooftop lounge and a swimming pool.
The project, designed by Howard Laks Architects, is on pace for completion in late 2018 or early 2019.
Kor is also in the midst of construction on another Proper Hotel on the Broadway corridor in Downtown Los Angeles.
